Hello AHPS Families,
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our GM Meeting. We discussed many important topics but probably our most noteworthy discussion was of course the Coronavirus and its impact on AHPS. As we know this situation is very fluid and rapidly changing but we were able to address many questions and concerns to the best of our ability. One important point from the meeting is that AHPS will continue to look to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and of course Stafford County Public Schools (SCPS) for guidance and direction. We informed the General Membership that we do plan to follow SCPS as it relates to school closures. At this time, per the request of Governor Northam all Virginia schools K-12 are closed for a minimum of 2 weeks from March 16 - 27, 2020 in response to the continued spread of the Coronavirus. As such, AHPS will also be closed through March 27 and with hopes of students returning to school on Monday, March 30. More information is expected from the SCPS Superintendent Dr. Kizner next week so we will stay informed of any further developments and keep the GM updated accordingly with any changes that will impact our preschool.
We also discussed at the GM meeting the preschool's continued efforts to make sure our space is a safe and healthy one for our students, teachers and families. In addition to all of the suggested precautions and regular cleaning and sanitizing we conduct at AHPS, we have also scheduled a deep disinfecting cleaning to be performed over the 2 week closure. It was suggested and discussed at the GM meeting that this deep cleaning preferably take place after our monthly clean up which is scheduled for Saturday, March 21st. Mae Ryan, our Committee Director reached out to see if we could move our clean up to tomorrow but due to low availability that was not possible. However, given the extended closure, we are able to keep our monthly clean up on the 21st and will schedule our deep cleaning for the following week allowing everyone to return to the healthiest environment possible.
We understand that you may still have questions or concerns so please do not hesitate to contact me or any Board member at any time. We ask that you continue to stay connected to email and Facebook in the coming days and weeks as we will be providing updates as we have them. Thank you as always for your patience and cooperation as we navigate these uncharted waters for our little preschool.
Stay healthy everyone!
